Main Street Youth Theatre Summer Workshops for Young Actors
Main Street Youth Theatre is pleased to offer two summer workshops for aspiring, young actors. These workshops will be conducted by Dan Brown who just closed his Directing debut with Main Street Youth Theatre of The Wizard of Oz.
The Acting for Young Actors camp is meant for both children who are new to the stage, and actors with multiple productions under their belts. In this camp acting will be approached in two different ways. The rst is through theatre games. These games are designed to promote spacial awareness along with cooperation and theatrical creation. The second way that we will be approaching theatre is through rehearsing and performing short scenes. Children will be divided into groups of 2-3 to learn scenes selected for them based on their experience. The rehearsal process for a show will be condensed into a process for learning a scene. On the final day of camp, parents will be invited to come in and watch the scenes. Assisting Dan will be Grant Grace, who played the Scarecrow in MSYT’s recent production of The Wizard of Oz.
Session I: July 31-August 4, 9:00-12:00
Session II: August 7-August 11, 1:00-4:00 Each session must have at least eight participants.
Audition Bootcamp is a camp designed to prepare actor for auditions through preparation of prepared materials and cold reads. By then end of the camp actors will have two 16-bar songs of contrasting styles audition ready, along with two 30 second monologues of contrasting styles. Actors are asked to come with at least one song and monologue prepared.
